How Long to Drive From Disney Springs Hotels to Animal Kingdom?Β

Watch the Real Drive Video

Under 10 minutes on the road. I drove it from the Renaissance on Hotel Plaza Blvd. I was on the road at 12:32PM, hit the Animal Kingdom toll plaza at 12:42PM, and walked through the gate at 12:45PM. Maps said 11 minutes. I beat that.

That's the number. Here's what the drive actually felt like.

Getting out of the hotel was the slowest part. The Renaissance garage gate looked like it was going to charge me again on the way out. My room key opened it, but it took a minute to figure out. Once I was out, it was easy. Right on S Apopka Vineland, then I-4 West toward Tampa for about 2 miles. There's construction there. Traffic was moving but heavy, and I can tell you it backs up later in the day. Take Exit 65 toward Wide World of Sports / Animal Kingdom, then Osceola Pkwy for about 3 miles.

Put "Animal Kingdom Toll Plaza" in your GPS, not just "Animal Kingdom."

The parking lot was the surprise. At lunchtime it wasn't even half full. I could see the Tree of Life from my spot in Peacock, and I walked straight in. I don't take the tram here, because the tram route is a lot further than walking. This is probably the easiest Disney park to park at.

I still walked one row past my truck coming back out, in broad daylight, so take a picture of your row.

It's the same route as the drive to Hollywood Studios, which was 10 minutes. The drive to Epcot is about 10 too. The drive to Magic Kingdom is the one that isn't 10min.

The honest catch

The drive is easy. The cost isn't. At the Renaissance it's $30 a night to park and a $39 resort fee, then $35 to park at Animal Kingdom. That's $104 a day before you buy a ticket. The shared hotel shuttle is free, but it took us 15 minutes just to leave the hotels.

And I drove at midday in October. Come at opening on a busy day and you'll park farther out.

The same drive works from the Wyndham, Holiday Inn, DoubleTree, Hilton, Hilton Palace, and Drury.
