It's about 10 minutes to drive from the Disney Springs hotels to Hollywood Studios, roughly 5 miles. I timed it from Hotel Plaza Boulevard. I pulled out at 3:50PM, reached the toll plaza at 4PM, and was parked at 4:05PM.
Unlike Magic Kingdom, the 10 minutes on the map is the real 10 minutes. Here's what the booking page can't tell you: what the drive actually feels like.
Maps sends you right onto South Apopka Vineland Road, then up I-4 West for about two miles. Get in the right lane early. I almost missed the ramp. There was construction on I-4, and there was traffic, but it kept moving. Take Exit 65 toward Wide World of Sports and Animal Kingdom, then Osceola Parkway. You know you're close when Goofy, Mickey and Minnie show up on the sign and Tower of Terror pokes up over the trees.
At 4PM in the rain, the lot was half empty. People were leaving, and the cast members waved us up close. I walked in from my spot. I never take the tram, because you sit there and wait long enough to have walked. You can see the Skyliner from the lot. Parking is $35.
While I was parking, two guys walked past pressing their key fobs, looking for their cars. One walked the same row twice. I've been that guy. The sea of cars looks different when you come back out, and it's worse at 9PM in the dark. Take a picture of your row number.
It also rained, the way it usually does between 2PM and 5PM. I carry a poncho, because otherwise you'll pay double for one inside the park.
Honest catch: I drove this at 4PM on a rainy afternoon, when people were leaving. That stretch of I-4 can back up later in the day. Also check whether your hotel charges to park overnight, or you'll pay twice for the same car.
Heading to Magic Kingdom instead? That 10-minute drive turns into at least 40 minutes to the gate.
