It's about 10 minutes to drive from the Disney Springs hotels to the Magic Kingdom toll plaza. Getting to the actual Magic Kingdom entrance takes at least 40 minutes. I drove it from Hotel Plaza Boulevard on a Tuesday afternoon.

I left at 1:13PM, Maps said 10 minutes, and I pulled up to the toll plaza at 1:24PM. The drive was exactly as advertised.

That's where the booking page's "minutes from Disney" story ends and the real trip starts.

First, the GPS trap. Type "Magic Kingdom Toll Plaza," not "Magic Kingdom." Plain "Magic Kingdom" tries to route you to the front entrance, and you can't drive there. The toll plaza takes you into the parking lot.

Then comes the part the map leaves out. Magic Kingdom parking isn't at the park. It's on the far side of the Seven Seas Lagoon. You park, then walk about 5 minutes or wait up to 10 for the tram to the Ticket & Transportation Center. You go through security there, then take the express monorail (5–8 minutes if there's no line). If the express line is backed up, take the resort monorail instead. It stops at the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian before the gate. I've done the whole thing solo in a mad rush in 30–35 minutes. In the lot that day I watched a mom with a double stroller, a baby strapped to her front and three kids start the same trip. She wasn't making it in 35 minutes.

The parking lot will humble you. I've been here over 50 times, and I've still gotten lost recently because I forgot to take a picture of my row. At night you come out facing the other direction, it's dark, and the lot is full of people pressing their key fobs and listening for a honk. Take the picture.

The money: $35 to park at Magic Kingdom. Many Hotel Plaza hotels also charge you to park overnight. The Wyndham is another $30, others $35 a night, so you can end up paying twice for the same car. A Lyft runs about $20–25 each way with tip, which works out to $40–50 a day, and you'll wait a little for the pickup.

The free hotel shuttle skips the parking fee but takes a full hour door to gate. And since June, you can't ride the Disney Springs resort buses as a workaround unless you're a Disney resort guest or have a dining reservation.

Honest catch: driving is still the fastest option from Hotel Plaza. But "10 minutes from Magic Kingdom" really means 10 minutes from the parking lot. Plan on 30 minutes minimum from the moment you park, and give yourself an hour if you have a dining reservation or you're traveling with strollers.
