The Residence Inn is the hotel to book for a Disney College Program move-in — as long as your kid is assigned to Village West.

Walk out the front door, turn right, cross the street, and you're at the West housing complex. Nothing else at Flamingo Crossings is that close.

Here's the fork nobody tells you about: DCP housing is split into two sides, and your kid just gets told West or East — you don't pick. West is the common assignment for first-timers; East tends to skew toward returning members and couples, I think but not sure. My daughter did two internships and was in West both times.

If your kid is in West, book the Residence Inn.

If they land East, the TownePlace Suites Flamingo Crossings is the closest to that side — a longer walk, but doable, and East sits on the complete opposite end of the complex.

Why the Residence Inn wins for West:

the back parking lot is big and usually near-empty, because most residents are off working their shifts, and many don't have vehicles here - a lot of DCP kids rely on the bus system, I haven't e8ver seen the lot full. You pull right up near your building, take the elevator, and you're moved in.

Move-ins are staggered across different days and times on purpose, so there's no swap-out crush. Four move-ins and move-outs for me — never a crowd, never a problem, easy in and easy out every time.

One thing to expect: security is tight, and you'll be glad it is. In my experience it was extremely secure — high fences, guards on both sides, ID checks every single time. You cannot get in without your DCP member present and your driver's license, and they sign you in at the back entrance (not the main bus-and-rideshare drop-off, where you can't park long-term). It's a bit of a hassle. As a parent, you appreciate that hassle — nobody gets in or out without their kid and their ID.

Why not the others: the Fairfield Inn Flamingo Crossings is next-closest, but a pond sits between it and the Residence Inn, so you're walking a little bit longer. Homewood and Home2 are noticeably farther — most people won't enjoy that walk when you're carrying any forgotten items and coming back to say goodbye at the bus terminal.

One more thing before you book:
