Fairfield Inn and Suites is a nice place — and a lot of the time it's the cheapest hotel at Flamingo Crossings, which makes it worth a serious look for budget-minded families. But like everywhere out here, there are details the booking photos won't show you.
Start with the parking, because this one trips people up. Fairfield shares a garage with Homewood Suites next door — but unlike Homewood, the garage isn't attached to the hotel. You have to come down to the first level to get in or out of the garage every time, then walk over. It's not a dealbreaker, and there's plenty of parking, but if you're hauling strollers and bags after a long park day, know that going in.
A genuine bonus out back: there's a quarter-court soccer field, a quarter basketball court, and a batting cage behind the property. If your family's into that, it's a nice touch you won't find at most of the others.
Walking in, it's very pleasant. The room is simpler — a small dorm-like refrigerator, an old-school microwave, and a coffee maker, so no real kitchenette here. But the shower is actually upscale, with a glass door — honestly one of the nicer things in the room. The breakfast is nice and free, and like all six Flamingo Crossings hotels, the shuttle to the parks is shared.
Here's the thing that sets Fairfield apart: it's smaller across the board. The pool is small with a modest deck. There's an outdoor bar and an indoor bar — both nice, but small, not built for large groups. That can be a real bonus if you want to avoid the youth-sports and band crowds that fill the bigger sister properties — or it might be less than you're looking for. Depends on your trip.
The exercise room, though, is small with no machines, and I'm not impressed with it.
Fairfield Inn might be the perfect hotel for your trip, especially if price is driving the decision. But you should really watch the video and do a full walkthrough with me first — because not all amenities out here are created equal.
