Homewood Suites in Flamingo Crossings sits right beside its sister property, Home2 Suites.
When you walk in, it just feels a little more upscale — bigger entrance area, bigger breakfast area. And the free breakfast itself is fuller and more complete: nice cooked scrambled eggs, a full layout, real silverware.
It usually costs a bit more than Home2, though not always — worth checking when you book.
The room is super nice. The kitchenette comes with a dishwasher, a stovetop burner, a three-quarter-size refrigerator, a microwave, and really nice silverware — so you can actually cook here, which matters on a long Disney trip.
The bathroom feels more upscale with a walk-in shower, though like Home2 it has that plexiglass-type door. Not a dealbreaker, just know it going in.
Homewood shares its pool with Home2 Suites next door, and it has both the indoor and outdoor bar and restaurant that Home2 comes over to share.
The exercise room — is nice, but like its sister it's light on machine attachments. The laundry sits in the same general area too, but at least here it's closed off behind separate doors in its own room. People still walk through to get to it, which is a little unique, but it's better separated than Home2.
Here's the real bonus most people don't know before booking: Homewood shares a parking garage with the Fairfield Inn beside it — but on floors one through five, you can walk directly out into the garage and right back in. Floors six and seven are too high, so you'll come down one or two flights. Still, that beats the Fairfield Inn, where the garage is completely detached and you have to come down, out, and walk over to the first floor before heading up to your room. At Homewood, floors one through five walk straight in and out of the garage. If that kind of thing matters to your family hauling strollers and bags, it's a genuine plus.
And like all six Flamingo Crossings hotels, the shuttle to the parks is shared — one bus for everybody.
I really like Homewood Suites. It's not right for every trip, but it might be right for your family. Better to watch the video and actually see me walk the property, see what it's like. Not all amenities out here are created equal.
