Home2 Suites in the Flamingo Crossings area is a nice option — and it might be exactly right for your Disney trip. It feels new the moment you walk in. But there are a few quirks the booking photos won't show you, so let me walk you through them.
The room has a real kitchenette: silverware, microwave, a washing machine, and a nice three-quarter-size refrigerator. No hot-plate burner, so it's not full cooking, but it's better than most. There's also a privacy curtain in the room — honestly you'll just have to watch the video to see what that's like. You might like it, you might not.
The bathroom is upscale with a walk-in shower, though the glass door is more of a plexiglass feel. Not bad, just what it is. No tub in my room, so if you need one for little kids, check first.
Here's the part most people miss: Home2 shares its pool with Homewood Suites right beside it. In fact it's so close to Homewood's pool bar and restaurant that you might not even notice it technically belongs to Homewood.
The exercise room is nice — though I'm always a little baffled the universal machines don't have more attachments. And one genuinely odd thing: the laundry washers sit in the same room as the gym, just behind a half-wall that's open. Not terrible, but it is unique having people come in to do their clothes while you're working out. Depends on whether that bothers you.
Home2 technically shares the parking garage with Homewood Suites and Fairfield Inn, but it's so far on the other side that it's really not practical to use — and honestly there's plenty of open parking anyway. The free breakfast is nice, better than most Home2 Suites I've stayed at, though I always find their eggs a little questionable the way they sit on the heated shelf. Watch the video and you'll see what I mean.
And like every hotel out here, the shuttle to the parks is shared with all six Flamingo Crossings hotels — one bus for everybody.
Home2 Suites is a nice hotel, usually at a nice price, and it might just be exactly right for your trip.
