Hyatt Place Orlando/Lake Buena Vista sits on Palm Parkway near Disney World. Close to Disney Springs, recognizable brand, reasonable price online. I booked it expecting a solid base camp.
I got up at 2am to film the room. Not because something exciting happened. Because nobody would believe me if I didn't.
Right in the middle of the room, two large drywall sections jutted out into the bed space with an enormous AC unit mounted directly in front of the bed. The unit cycled on constantly throughout the night.
I'm a heavy sleeper. Nothing wakes me up. This woke me up all night like a jet engine sitting three feet from my pillow.
The rest of the property had problems too. Parking cost money. The pool wasn't memorable. Breakfast came on styrofoam plates with plastic forks. The bus stop out front had people sleeping on it.
Palm Parkway has multiple hotel options at similar price points. Not all of them put a giant AC unit in the middle of your sleeping space. If you're searching for a budget hotel near Disney Springs on Palm Parkway, know what you're actually booking before you drive nine hours to find out at midnight.
I've stayed in 36 Disney-area budget hotels. This one made my list of four I won't go back to.
