The Hilton Garden Inn Lake Buena Vista/Orlando sits on Marbella Palm Court off Palm Parkway near Disney World. Most budget travelers searching the Marbella area hotels will find it listed under its official name — Hilton Garden Inn Lake Buena Vista.
The lobby looked sharp when I walked in. Clean, modern, well-designed. For a split second I thought I'd found a hidden gem near Disney World.
Then I tried to get ice.
Six of the seven ice machines in the Hilton Garden Inn Marbella were broken. I walked every floor looking for one that worked. Found it on the seventh floor. That's the kind of detail that doesn't show up in the star rating.
The room felt like a work trip, not a Disney base camp.
Basic layout, tiny refrigerator, nothing that said this was built for a family of four coming off 10 miles in a theme park. If you're traveling solo for business it's fine. If you're here for Disney with kids, the room doesn't deliver.
Breakfast isn't free. At a budget hotel near Disney where families are already spending thousands, a paid breakfast adds up fast for a family of four before you've even left the parking lot.
The Marbella Palm Parkway area has multiple hotel options. Not all of them are equal. The Hilton Garden Inn looks premium online — the photos are clean, the ratings are decent. What the photos don't show is the broken ice machines, the work-trip room feel, and the breakfast line math for a family trip budget.
I've stayed in 36 Disney-area budget hotels. This one made my list of four I won't go back to.
