Watch the Walk from the TTC to Wailulu at the Polynesian Video
The outdoor bar at Wailulu was wide open when I walked up — no reservation, no wait, just picked a seat. But here's the part most people miss: it depends entirely on where you want to sit.
Wailulu Bar & Grill at Disney's Polynesian is split into two areas with two different rules. The inside dining room takes reservations — and if you want to sit inside, you'll want one, because it fills up. You can book it right in the Disney app under Check Dining Availability.
But the outdoor bar is a different story: it's walk-up only, first-come first-served, no reservation possible. You just show up and grab a seat.
That outdoor bar is the bigger space — a large bar with a lot of outdoor seating.
The day I went, mid-afternoon, it was light. Plenty of open seats, a nice breeze under the cover even though it was hot out. I sat down at the bar with zero wait and did some work. No host list, no name to check off.
One thing worth knowing if you've read older info: for its first year after opening, Wailulu was all walk-up — you couldn't reserve anything. That changed. The inside now runs on reservations, but the outdoor bar has stayed walk-up the whole time. So if someone tells you "you can't reserve Wailulu," they're describing how it used to be — or they're talking about the outside bar specifically. It's the full menu either way, casual dining, and you have to be on Disney property to be seated outside — this isn't a spot you book from off-site and drive to. It's a walk-up-while-you're-there bar, which is exactly why I like it.
