Free breakfast at TownePlace Suites Flamingo Crossings sounds like a easy win before a Disney park day. And most mornings it is. But there's something the booking sites won't tell you: this hotel is built to handle large groups, and when those groups arrive, the breakfast room fills up fast.
I checked in on a Saturday evening and the front desk told me they were 100% booked. I noticed the dedicated bus parking stalls out back and the batting cages out front — clear signs this property hosts youth sports teams, band camps, and large group travel regularly. I made a mental note. Sure enough, I woke up the next morning to four giant charter buses in the lot.
I walked into the breakfast room and there wasn't a single table to sit down at. I had to sit outside. If you didn't wake your family up early and get in line before 7am, you got stuck behind 100 kids at the waffle makers. Your morning timeline is blown and you've missed rope drop before you ever left the parking lot.
It shares the property footprint with the SpringHill Suites next door, which means when both hotels are full, the crowd volume doubles. Luckily they don't share breakfast areas. On a normal low-occupancy night this is a non-issue. On a weekend when sports teams are rolling in, it's a different experience.
TownePlace is still one of my favorite hotels in the area — clean, well run, great front desk staff. But if rope drop timing matters to your family, set your alarm early and get down before the buses crank up.
