Disney Pop Century Refurbishment 2025 Is it Worth It?

Pop Century Video

Rooms at Pop Century were running about $225 a night the night I stayed. The refurbishment was actively happening. So I walked the entire resort to find out exactly what families are actually dealing with β€” and whether it's worth the price.

Here's what I found.

The exterior looks clean. No construction fencing, no equipment, no blocked pathways. The 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s buildings all circle the main pool and the lake exactly as advertised. Wide walkways, easy stroller navigation, nothing disrupted.

The main pool is fully open. The pool bar had a brief closure earlier in the year but was back running normally when I was there. The bus loop is organized and efficient β€” and unlike the All-Star resorts, Pop Century runs its own direct bus routes without sharing. That's a legitimate advantage most booking sites don't mention.

Inside the lobby, the only visible construction was black draping covering one section of a hallway. No noise. No crews. No tools. Just a visual cover over whatever work was happening behind it. Everything else was fully operational β€” food court open, Joffrey's coffee running, dining options available.

Walking the room buildings I didn't see any work crews or blocked areas. Disney is handling the refurbishment building by building with minimal guest impact. If you didn't know a refurb was happening, you might not notice anything was off.

The Skyliner access is the real story here. Step off the gondola and you're on property. For families hitting Epcot and Hollywood Studios that convenience alone changes the math on whether on-property is worth the premium.

My honest take: Pop Century feels like it's quietly upgrading, not a resort under construction. The refurb chaos you've been reading about online is not what I saw on the ground.

But here's the part that matters for your budget. Pop Century at $225 a night is still a Disney resort price. For a family of four staying five nights that's $1,125 in hotel costs before you've bought a single park ticket or paid for a meal. When you add the actual cost of a Disney trip most families find they need to make a real decision about where that room budget goes.

If Pop Century fits your number, it's worth it. If it doesn't, the off-property options near Disney's western entrance run $100 to $180 a night with free breakfast,  parking, and a free shuttle to the parks. I've stayed in 36 Disney-area hotels and walked the real numbers on all of them.
