Is Early Entry Worth It at Magic Kingdom?

Watch the Real Early Entry Video

Early entry lets you into Magic Kingdom 30 minutes before everyone else, but only Tomorrowland and Fantasyland open, and when I tried it, Tron didn't start loading riders until 8:45AM. Disney resort guests get it every day. So do guests at the Disney Springs hotels: Hilton Buena Vista Palace, Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, Wyndham Garden, Holiday Inn, Renaissance, DoubleTree, & Drury Plaza, Flamingo Crossings hotels don't get it.

Here's what the planning pages can't tell you: what that early morning actually feels like.

I stayed at All-Star Music, got up at 5:30AM, and caught a packed 7:10AM bus that dropped me right at the gate at 7:30AM. Then I stood outside until they let us in at 7:50AM. Inside, a cast member scanned my ticket again and asked, "What resort are you at?" They check.

I walked straight to Tron. The line was already forming, and the ride was scheduled for 9AM. That's an hour standing in line, on top of the 20 minutes outside the gate, to "beat the lines." By 8:35AM, Space Mountain showed 15 minutes and the Speedway 5. Tron finally rolled with riders at 8:45AM, and the wait from there was still about 45 minutes.

I also wandered toward Haunted Mansion in the rain, found no rope, and got stopped by a very nice cast member asking if I worked there. Everything outside those two lands stays closed until park opening.

The honest catch: for me, early entry didn't save time on Tron. It just got me on the ride. I'd rather pay for a Lightning Lane. But if your kids want Space Mountain or Seven Dwarfs with short waits, those first 30 minutes are real.

So is it worth it? We're all different. Staying at a Disney Springs hotel gets you early entry without paying Disney resort prices. See the full list of Disney Springs hotel questions answered, or check how close the Hotel Plaza hotels are on foot in can you walk to Disney Springs.

One more thing before you book.

Whether you stay on property or off, the hotel decides how your mornings go. I've stayed at both and filmed real walkthroughs of every hotel so you can see it before you pay.

Early entry is one perk. Fees, shuttles, parking and the room itself decide whether a hotel is right for your family. I've stayed in them so you don't have to.

Stop guessing. Don't book the wrong hotel.
